MANTHRA - A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE

It is all about the story of a girl who is a little bit courageous and bold in facing the problems in her life. Manthra is an ambitious teen age girl among her destiny and loneliness, with a lot of maturity. She is facing financial crisis due to the death of her father even though she has a luxurious banglow to dispose. That banglow and the myths about it and how the banglow and its horror stories creating a problem in the life of a girl who is almost alone, is the key story of this fantastic Telugu movie.

This is a fine example of telling the story in a different way, taking a deviation from the orthodox film making in Telugu. This work has its own identity because it never using the charismatic image of any popular star even though the hero and heroine are well renowned stars in Telugu. The film maker picturised one suicide and two murders in the very fist part of the film which kept the audience in a strange suspense. These scenes raised more questions in the minds of spectators like, why that man jumped from the building?, who murdered that lady? and who is burning in fire?

The story is progressing smoothly through the inquiry of the hero on what is happening in that banglow. One important comment I want to say is about the song in the film. One is the flash back song in quiet natural story situation – the honey moon of the couple. But, even though I cant understand the meaning of the lines, I can say that the music and voice of the song is very much situational and different. The second song which reveals the ambition of the heroine to become a pop singer is exactly good and it also revealing the hope of pop music in Telugu.

The movie is also depicting the consequences of unexpected happenings in human life. Firstly, that young couple was leading a happy life. He loved his wife very much but she cheated him by sharing bed with a neighbor. He has committed suicide by seeing this unexpected cheating. In her life also it put a semi Collen and she wandered madly around the banglow for a long time. In the case of second family his financial bankruptcy made him mentally disordered and that resulted the murder of two including his wife. He stayed in that banglow and murdered or tried to murder those who are trying to open that room. In case of Muniswamy also interesting co incidents happening after he wrote his name in the empty name board. All these incidences affecting Manthra – the banglow owner and she successfully faced all these difficulties with the help of hero Even though she faced the killer and death in a close distance.

The use of cinematography and sound and lighting system used to keep the horror surroundings and suspense was splendid. The selection of actor and actress for the characters are also great in this picture. But in my opinion, we can say some more things about how that man became mad. Any way it is a good work which combines commercial and art values.
